How to make White Gravy

  Easy White Gravy

Heavy cream in traditional white gravy typically adds a lot of calories. Even though this version only uses milk, it still makes a rich gravy.

Ingredients

4 tablespoons butter; 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour; 2 and a half cups milk; salt and black pepper to taste;

cooking instructions:

Heat a large saucepan over low heat. Stir in the butter until it is melted.

Add the flour and stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and bubbly.

While stirring, gradually add the milk (a wire whisk is best for this step). Stir until smooth. If desired, add the salt and pepper.

Bring to a boil over medium heat while constantly stirring. The mixture should boil for one minute while being stirred, or until it becomes thicker.
